Apple updated its iPad Mini for 2021 several weeks ago after the years of anticipation. Latest iteration of the smallest iPad now features an 8.3 inch display with slimmer bezels. Some users have noticed that, Jelly Scrolling issue which is a term for when the right side of screen runs faster than the left side in portrait mode. the response by Apple about the Jelly Scrolling was that effect was normal behavior for the LCD screens that refresh line by line.
Next iPad Mini could solve this issue by gaining an iPad Pro upgrade that would bring the display’s Refresh rate up to 120 Hz. Apple is considering launching an iPad Mini 120 Hz refresh rate. for now the latest ipad Mini comes equipped with 160 Hz screen. Upcoming iPad Mini could features the same Display, that Apple has been using on the iPad Pro models since 2017. The company calls the screens with the 120 Hz refresh rate Pro Motion displays and they have found on the iPad Pro series and the iPhone 13 Pro and the 13 Pro Max.
The 13 Pro have the faster refresh rate for its smoothness and the responsiveness despite some was not all third party apps being optimized for it. After several other years of development its expected that to be less of an issue. It is worth nothing that, Apple take on 120 Hz includes the variable refresh rate where it drops to 10 Hz when the content on the screen does not need a high refresh rate, for example when reading.
This system will automatically detects when, it needs to apply the high refresh rate. so if company is considering bringing the Pro Motion Technology to the iPad Mini we also assume that he next iPad Air could get the 120 Hz refresh rate and the display too.
