The Apple watch presents one of the biggest design changes Apple has made in generations. The 20% larger display in almost the same dimensions that has accomplished by slimming down the bezels. The Apple Watch Series 7 shares the lot of features with the Watch series 6 having the similar design, same processor and more. iFixit has revealed some important changes under the hood, that Apple choose not to reveal.
Apple engineers helped iFixit tear down the watch series 7, once opened the team found that series 7 is missing the diagnostic port. The company now uses the 60 GHz high frequency wireless interface instead. Perhaps hinting at the similar port less future for the iPhone, wireless module along with the proprietary dock allows the Apple to do the same diagnostics without the physical ports. Tear down also reveals that, the Apple watch series 7 uses a new display technology with the touch integrated OLED panel and it also known as on cell touch.
Series 7 also packs the slightly larger battery than the series 6. This watch has received the 6.8% increase in battery and 45mm model cell in 1.6% larger in size. Apple claims that the battery life remains unchanged at up to 18 hours on the single charge. The display that Is new could be reason for no battery life improvements despite the bigger cell through the 45mm model changes is so minuscule and it could not have made difference either way.
The company Watch Series 7 have earned 6 out of 10 score on the iFixit repairability scale for its Modular Construction and Straight forward access to the screen and battery. It is pretty good score indicates that, the company will continue to make the wearable easy to fix.
