Bowers and Wilkins has revived the iconic Zeppelin Wireless speaker. In terms of look anyway the internal hardware is all new and it turns out more than fit for the purpose. This comes with the aptX Bluetooth Apple Airplay 2 and Spotify connect built in and get access to pretty much all the rest of the planet stock of Music via its clean tidy and the responsive Music control app. There is support of the Amazon Alexa Voice assistant and the unit is just as the good looking and just as well made and just as big as it ever was.
DESIGN
The original Zeppelin launched 15 years ago as an iPod speaker dock it was and not surprisingly Zeppelin shaped. The new version that followed added functionality but retained what rapidly become an iconic silhouette. Most wireless Zeppelin so far it is even more wireless than 2015 Zeppelin wireless and so there is not much to talk about where the cabinet is concerned. Wireless possibilities are much more numerous though and AptX adaptive Bluetooth 5 Apple Airplay 2 and Spotify connect are available.
It is possible to integrate any or all of the favourite music streaming services into the App. It includes Amazon music, Deezer and Tidal etc. Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin can be controlled through the app is straight forward and reasonably intuitive and there is the degree of EQ adjustment available here too.
PERFORMANCE
The Zeppelin is well judged listen when it comes to tonal balance, the journey from the bottom of the frequency range to the top end is smooth and even with no area understand or overplayed. It is particularly adept through mid range and where the vocals are concerned. Same recording allows the Zeppelin to show off its dynamic prowess both in giving the spaces in the song their due and in putting authentic distance b/w the quietest and loudest moments.
Users can but it if they after one of the biggest and most complete wireless speakers around and if they know the good control app when they see one. On the other hand if users are expecting authentic stereo separation and hanker after some physical connectivity.
