Tidal is making some significant changes to its subscription plans and introducing the free ad sponsored tier for the first time. New Tidal Free plan launches and is executive to US and the company says, it offers access to our entire music catalog and playlists with limited interruptions. The streaming quality tops out of 160kbps and however so it is not much for Tidal paid options on that front.
Tidal is upgrading its standard and paid plan to include lossless and high resolution audio. It is now known as Tidal HIFI and is $9.99 per month tire offers the improved music quality, and also adds offline capabilities access to features like, Tidal connect and My activity and it provides the individualized daily listening insights. Along with Apple music and Amazon Music unlimited now offering lossless no extra cost and Tidal had little choice here, but to match those services. Service is now owned by square and was among the first to make the big lossless push.
The company is also adding the new third plan called the Tidal HIFI Plus. It costs $19.99 monthly, and will be home to Tidal most premium Audio content. Tidal is announcing some new initiatives and it hopes could provide artists with some additional revenue, from the fractions of scraps and they normally receive from music streaming services.
New efforts sound promising in concept and definitely shake things up particularly the fan centered royalties. The regular premium HIFI Plan is not contributing to direct to artist payments or fan centered royalties. An unsurprising bit of corporate synergy the Tidal says and it will be working with square, cash app and also Paypal and to insure the quick and seamless payouts to artists globally.
It comes as Spotify HIFI announced nearly 9 months ago at this point has still yet to launch. They have only said that its lossless tire is expected to be available later this year. Company has made no official comment on, whether like its competitors it will also support Dolby Atmos and other new music formats.
