Toyota is charging motorists for the convenience of using their key fobs to ever start their buses. According to the report Toyota models 2018 or newer will need a subscription in order for the key fob to support remote launch functionality.
Buyers are given the option to choose from an array of connected services when copping a new Toyota and one of those services called Remote Connect, just to happen to include the capability to ever start auto with the key fob.
Buyers are offered a free trial of Remote Connect, But the length of that trial rely upon audio packages that are included with the vehicle. Indeed more confusingly only some Toyota models support the Audio plus or Premium Audio packages that feel the trial is offered with.
While an auto with Audio plus gives motorists the luxury of the free remote launch using a key fob for three years, an auto bought with Premium Audio offers free remote launch for 10 years.
Toyota is finally charging ahead with its electric vehicle plans
After that, motorists will have to pay the $8 for a month and $80 for year, price for the full Remote Connect service which includes the remote launch point for the key fob.
It says that Remote Connect services let motorists use their smartwatch, smart home bias, or smartphones to start their buses, but there isn’t any citation of using the key fob for remote starts.
In a thread dated back to 2019 on the Toyota Nation Forum users, discuss the key fob remote launch functionality some users claim that their key fob is still suitable to start auto ever.
Still, almost all of the users on this thread enjoy a Toyota that’s 2018 or newer which means they may still be covered by the free trial. Still, BMW still doesn’t let users unleash new features in auto in a way that’s been described as in auto micro deals.
